Aldous Huxley, the author of "A Brave New World", once said: "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored", and nowhere is this adage truer than in technology design. Whether your company is seeking to develop custom software, a mobile app or a company intranet, facts matter. That's why every project at Data Titan includes a formal design phase.
In technical terms related to software development, the design is two parts of the same coin, but with very different approaches. On one side of the coin is the "UI" or User Interface design. This is where the facts collected for the business requirements identify where, when, and why screens should exist within an application or mobile app. These are the wireframes, components, and component regions of a solution, a process that includes the placement of artifacts, fields, elements, typography, navigation, color, and a million other variables used to support the final "UI" design. On the other side of the coin is the "UX" or the "User Experience" when interacting with the software or mobile app. "UX" is more about how a person feels after interfacing with your solution. If you’ve ever heard the quote "Simple is hard", then you have a starting point to understanding what "UX" means. In a word, UX is usability.
At Data Titan, our approach to software development and the design of the software is a process, first gathering all the business and programming requirements of the solution, or gathering all the facts as Aldous Huxley so aptly put it, and then layering those facts into the screens until every element is defined and validated. Then and only then do we begin the process of layering the UX into the functional elements of the application, to produce the final stack of wireframes needed to develop your company's software or mobile apps.
